Our own time

The problem with societal crisis is
that we do not live in societal times.
We live in our own.
It’s not the 73rd year of doing nothing
about climate change,
it’s my 23rd year of finally earning
enough money to buy myself something nice.
I don’t get up in the morning and think to myself,
what did the government achieve
in the last 3 years of its legislative period,
I think to myself that it’s Monday
and I’d rather stay in bed than go to work.

We have no societal time management,
even if we pretend, we do.
We have shared times when we look back and wonder
where our societal time has gone,
when we have spent it in our own.
